2/27/04 - Leah is adjusting. In the past week, she has only napped half of the days. While she enjoys her new bedroom, she resists falling asleep on her own. Thankfully, she is adapting to a night time routine.

6/6/04 - Leah and Daddy 5/15/04 - Leah's fine motor skills are amazing! The above picture is one she colored in herself today. The one on the left was drawn on 6/1/04. We are impressed at how quickly Leah is advancing overall. One day, she was trying to ride her bike inside and bumping into everything. She'd say, "I'm stuck" and require our help to continue. Days later, she's no longer stuck and instead riding laps around the house. Her language skills are excellent as well. Leah knows colors, letters, numbers, and tons of objects. She's particularly good with flash cards and pointing out objects in magazines and books. She's much more into reading, and when she speaks, she clearly communicates, sometimes in long sentences. Leah has lost interest in toddler television shows and now favors those written for kindergarten and grade-schoolers. She has a sweet personality, generously offering "big hugs" and kisses to friends and loved ones. Leah has taken on the role of big sister very well. She is gentle with the baby and has not shown any jealousy so far. |
6/21/04 - Leah starts summer camp tomorrow! For the next six weeks, she'll go Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9 am - 1:30 pm. This is a big transition for both of us. Hopefully we'll both do well. In other news, Leah can now use a computer! She can use the mouse to point, click and drag objects on the screen. She enjoys online activities and games for preschoolers. Last night, Leah went to sleep in her "big girl bed" all on her own, not needing to be kept company as she fell asleep. Also, Leah can now swim the whole length of the pool with arm-floaties on. 6/22/04 - Leah did GREAT at camp! She did not mind being dropped off at all. When I came back at 11:15 (as they suggested for the first day), she was confused to see me. She wanted to stay and play with the group, but didn't want me to go either. While I waffled on weather to leave or not, she flipped out (laid on the floor crying) and requested a Happy Meal, so we left. Once she was home and fed, she admitted that she was a "happy camper." Unfortunately, she didn't have much else to say about camp. 6/24/04 - Leah cried at camp today -- when it was time to go home! She's loving camp!

![]() 8/10/04 - Leah is 2.75 years old. She's enjoying the last two weeks of summer and looks forward to starting school two days a week on August 24th.
10/14/04 - Leah had her three-year check up today. She weighs 31 pounds and is 36 inches tall. The doctor found no problems. He was impressed with her dental hygiene and cognitive development. He asked her to identify some colors and remarked that she had the intelligence of a four-year-old! She got no shots today. Her next check-up will be in a year. Leah's vocabulary and understanding of the English language continues to amaze us and grow. She naps less, but hasn't dropped the afternoon nap entirely, especially on busy school days. She's finally taking an interest in potty training! She likes to choose her own clothes and to do things for herself. She continues to be a sweet-natured child. She adores "big hugs"-- especially the "run-and-jump" kind. If you offer her something she doesn't want, she politely says, "no, thank you." She's outgoing and confident and makes friends easily. Happy Third Birthday, Leah!

8/5/04 - Leah was totally delighted by Pooh and Piglet's visit during dinner in Disney World! She also loved the monorail, the MGM Studios day-time parade, and various gift items. Other parts of Disney World scared her, like the loud and dark indoor rides (even though they were for kids) and the spooky night-time parade in the Magic Kingdom.
Leah is three years old now. We had a blast celebrating at The Little Gym.
